GUATEMALAN TEXTILES
Guatemala is a country of renowned folklore and many traditions, attributed to the influence of the former Mayan civilization that inhabited the country until the arrival of the Spanish. Even though Guatemala is a small country, there are 22 different Mayan dialects spoken in its territory. These Mayan communities have been weaving their own traditional clothes by loom for years, each design and color represents a specific tribe and culture in order to distinguish and recognize each other.
Each of this note sets are inspired by a different huipil (the most common traditional garment worn by indigenous women) of different regions of the country. They are all printed based on the real colors of each of the pieces and embossed to feel the "textile" texture of the huipil.
